The International Doctoral Programme in Local Development and Global Dynamics coordinated by the University of Trento with the cooperation of the Corvinus University of Budapest, the University of Bologna, the University of Deusto, the University of Freiburg, the University of Ljubljana, the University of Regensburg, the University of North Carolina, the Zhejiang University, the EURAC European Research Institute on Cooperative and Social Enterprises, the SDIC School of Development Innovation and Change, the Manchester Institute of Innovation Research, the Higher School of Economics of Moscow, EURICSE, the OECD, the IAB Institute for Employment Research, the Basque Institute of Competitiveness Orkestra, Metropolitan Research Institute, , the Economic Development Policies Unit of the Emilia Romagna Region, the Mach Foundation, the International Institute for Development Cooperation and GARAPEN

focuses on

new characteristics of local development in the approach of the openness and integration of societies and on the processes through which the new emerging global knowledge has to be re-contextualized and combined with local specificities. It aims at providing specialized research skills based on an interdisciplinary and comparative context.


The 180 ECTS/ 3 year program provides an integration of didactic, specialization and research sections.
After the completion of the first year, students will specialize in one of the following three majors:

  • INNOVATION AND LOCAL DEVELOPMENT
  • HUMAN AND SOCIAL RESOURCES IN LOCAL DEVELOPMENT
  • COOPERATIVES, SOCIAL ENTERPRISES AND LOCAL DEVELOPMENT

CALL FOR APPLICATION a.y. 2009/'10

No. 8 doctoral position
No. 5 scholarship (approx. Euro 13.638,47/year) Other scholarships may become available before selection
Residence contribution for non-residents (Euro 100,00/month)
Accommodation at the University residences for the 1st year (appr. € 250,00 /month)
Free access to the University libraries, PC-rooms and canteens
Student card (discounts for restaurants, concerts, cinemas and other events organized by the University Guild)
30% discount on the one-year travel card for city transport
Classes will start in November 2009
